John Gruchot
1947-2024
It is with profound sorrow that the family shares the passing of John Gruchot on August 7, 2024. John was born in Orebro, Sweden on October 8, 1947 and emigrated to Canada with his family at the age of three.
John was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and a sharp sense of humour. Whatever he chose to do, he did it on his terms.
John loved working at Canada Post and took immense pride in his job as an Inspector.
John was generous and the ultimate host. He loved to travel, play the lottery, tend to his lawn and vegetable garden and listen to André Rieu. However, his family is what John cherished the most. He is survived by his devoted wife Mary; daughters Lisa (Richard), Halifax, NS and Julie (Pasquale), Pierrefonds, QC; grandsons Jackson and Thomas Harvey and Lucas Beauséjour, and his extended family.
John is predeceased by his parents Piotr Gruchot and Helena Lukszo Gruchot, as well as his brother Henry Gruchot.
Visitation will be held at Yves Légaré, Complexe Pierrefonds,14370 boul. de Pierrefonds on August 14th from 2:00pm-5:00pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm. A rosary will be recited at 8:00pm. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1660 rue Centre, Montreal on August 15th at 11:00am with the burial taking place at a later date.
John’s family are grateful to the incredible medical staff in the Oncology and ICU Departments at the Lakeshore General Hospital for the exceptional care they provided.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be appreciative of donations made to the Oncology Department at the Lakeshore General Hospital.
