Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
On September 1, 2024, at the Greater Niagara General Hospital, at the age of 75.
He was born May 10, 1949, to the late William Harry Sills and Bessie Winnifred Lowe. John is survived by his loving wife Lucy (Bellini) of 50 years, his sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren, Jeromie (Lisa) Makennah and Colton, Ian (Nicole) Ethan and Ella, and Stephen (Martina) Milo and Theodore and his brother Harve. Predeceased by his brothers Harry, and Robert.
John began his career in the Canadian Armed Forces – Navy on the west coast then returned to Ontario and worked for the Niagara Regional Police Service where he retired after 30 years.
John was a devoted father and absolutely adored his grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and neighbours…often being the life of the party. He embraced his wife’s family, their Italian traditions, loved gardening, watching football and a darn good party. His grandchildren will miss making and eating Papa’s homemade pasta with him.
In keeping with John’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family interment of John’s ashes to occur at a later date. As an expression of sympathy those who wish may make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or to Heart and Stroke Foundation.
