John Allan Fenton
1950-2024
John Allan
Fenton, 73, of Riverview and formerly of Edgett’s Landing
passed away peacefully on Feb 6th, 2024 at the Moncton
Hospital with his family by his side.
John was born in Riverside, NB on April 3rd, 1950 the son of
the late Eldon and Mildred (Steeves) Fenton.
John worked as an Inventory Controller for Universal Truck
and Trailer for over 30 years until his retirement. He
enjoyed his job and made sure all the parts needed were in
stock. One of the perks was when he won a trip to Hawaii,
through work, which he and Judy enjoyed immensely. He was a
member of the Gunningsville Baptist Church where he served as
Deacon. John was a devoted Christian who served his Lord. He
was a Sunday School Teacher and also very involved with Stockades and
was a Deacon and Trustee for years. He would be the
first to tell you he wasn’t perfect but for the Glory of God he has
been forgiven and is redeemed. John lived a life of service;
he was there for anyone that needed him. He enjoyed helping
out whenever possible. He was a jack of all trades and could
fix anything he put his mind to. He was a regular DIY man.
He enjoyed hunting, golfing and was a true Montreal Canadien
fan. He was a regular at the Wildcats games, and he enjoyed
watching NASCAR and always cheered for his favourite, Dale Earnhardt
Jr.
John loved his family. He just celebrated his
50th wedding anniversary with his wife Judy. He and
his son, Scott, had a great relationship and were very
close. They lived across from Judy’s parents for years and
had a close bond with all her family. John had a great sense
of humour and loved to laugh and have fun. He has left many
wonderful memories for everyone who knew him.
After he and Judy moved to the apartments in Riverview, he
became the « Handyman » and made sure everyone was looked
after, this was just his personality. The apartment owners
appreciated his abilities to handle small jobs and kept them informed
of any problems. As his health deteriorated, it still didn’t
seem to get him down. He could be found on the golf course,
even with his portable oxygen tank beside
him.
Unfortunately, John had some serious health issues in the
past few months. He is now at peace and with his Lord and
Saviour, pain free walking the streets of
gold.
« He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased
our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. »
Ephesians 1:7
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Judy Fenton; son Scott
Fenton of Riverview; sister, Diane Brantnall (Gary) of Hillsborough;
sister-in-law, Edith Land (Mike) of Edgett’s Landing; brothers-in-law,
Rev. Don MacDougall (Wanda) of Moncton and Merlen Geldart of
Hillsborough. He will also be missed by several nieces and
nephews and by all his extended family and
friends.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his
brother-in-law, John Witham; sisters-in-law, Lois Butland, Pat
MacDougall, Faye Bishop (Audbur) and Carolyn Geldart.
He will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with
visitation on Thursday evening from 6-8pm. The funeral
service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, February 9th, 2024
at 2:00pm with brother-in-law Rev. Don MacDougall officiating.
Interment will be in the Grey’s Island Cemetery, Hillsborough at a
later date.
For those who wish donations to the Grey’s Island Cemetery or
charity of the donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by the
family.
Arrangements are in the care
of the Albert County Funeral Home, 4130 Route 114, Hopewell Cape, NB,
