It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother Joan Welch in her 84th year. Daughter of Lawrence and Margaret of Montreal.
She will be missed by her children, Richard (Ronald), Steven (Linda), and Laurie, her grandchildren, Christina, Adam, Alizabeth, Ross, Kevin, Kyle, Joseph, and Christopher, and her great-grandson, Jaxon, as well as her extended family of Barrie and Susan Welch.
Mom lived in a number of places before settling in Ontario and her greatest passion was her dogs and helping animals. She owned a very successful boarding kennel and worked as an assistant at a veterinary clinic. At one time she even ran a Budgie aviary. Mom also loved to do ceramics and arts and crafts.
The family would like to give our most sincere thanks to the wonderful staff of the Peterborough Hospital for their compassionate care and to the great staff and residents of Canterbury Gardens who were mom’s friends for the last 5 years.
Mom asked that her ashes spend eternity with her beloved pets and did not want any ceremonies. Should you wish to remember mom, a gift to the Peterborough Humane Society would touch her heart. Condolences may be shared and donations made by visiting www.ashburnhamfuneral.ca.
