Wagg, Joan Madeline
It is with great sadness that the family of Joan Madeline Wagg announce her passing on October 12, 2023, in her 95th year, at the Campbell House Hospice in Collingwood. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.
Born in Meaford December 28, 1927, second daughter to Mary “Minnie” Jean (nee Knight) and Wilbert Vickers Foreman. Survived by her sister Shirley Brice Clements. Her husband of 70 years, Dr. H. Ovas Wagg, predeceased her in 2022. Joan leaves behind 4 children, Candace Manchee, Stephanie (Jim) Patty, Michael (Wendy Phillips) Wagg and Patricia Wagg. As well as a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She finished high school in Collingwood and graduated nursing in 1949 from Collingwood General & Marine Hospital. She accompanied her husband to Kingston and then to Calgary for his internship. Then to Hamilton and Windsor to complete his education. Returning again to Calgary where they remained for 25 years. While in Calgary she became interested in Girl Guides of Canada becoming Chairman of the Calgary area and received a medal of merit upon her retirement.
They returned to Collingwood in 1985. Both Joan and Ovas became coaches and active participants in the Collingwood Lawn Bowling and in Lakeland Lawn Bowling, Florida. Joan loved the Red Hatters who she chummed around with in Collingwood.
The family wishes to thank The Campbell House Hospice and Nurses for the excellent care she received. We also want to thank Tammy Paris, her personal PSW, for her amazing care while Joan was at home.
A service of remembrance will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday November 27, 2023 in the chapel at First Presbyterian Cemetery.
