HOWELL, Joan Patricia (nee Sutherland) September 12, 1929 – June 16, 2024
With great sadness the family wishes to announce the sudden passing of Joan on June 16, 2024 in her 95th year. Beloved wife of the late Lloyd Howell. Loving father of Karen (Lynn Stackhouse, predeceased), Ann Dodd (Doug), and Doug (Roxanne) Howell. Proud grandmother of Curtis Dodd (Hawley), April Valentine (Travis) and great grandmother of Bennett & Brooks Dodd and Carly & Emily Valentine. Predeceased by her sister Rae Fawcett (Don) and her brother-in-law Glenn Howell (Lorna). Joan will be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews and dear friends. She will be missed by her family and friends at Mapleview Retirement Residence. Joan co-owned Parker’s Florists with Lloyd. She was a nurse at St. Michaels but left nursing to raise a family. She enjoyed bridge, reading, round and square dancing and knitting. She was busy making hats for premature babies at the local hospital. She was a long time member of the Catholic Women’s League. A private graveside service will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Hastings. Heartfelt thanks for the exceptional and loving care Joan received at Mapleview. In memory of Joan, donations may be made to the Campbellford Memorial Hospital, Peterborough Regional Health Centre or the Mapleview Retirement Residence Residents Council.
