LEWIS, Joan Cylene
It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Joan Cylene Lewis on May 23, 2023 at Alexandra Hospital. Joan was born on July 25, 1932 in Dereham Township, Ontario to the late Philip Kirwin and Mary (Johnson).
Joan will be dearly missed by her loving husband John, after 73 years of a wonderful marriage and by her children: Phil (Karen) and their daughters Catherine and Cadan, Tom (Simona) and their son Michael, Cheryl (Al) and their daughters Danielle (Phil) and Nicole, Nancy (Peter) and their son David, and much-loved great granddaughters Aven and Calla.
Joan was from a large family and is survived by Anna Marie (late Jack), Mike (Marlene), Bob (Henrietta), Pauline (late Dr. S.M. Ahmad), Paul, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Joan was predeceased by Patrick (late Sheila), Bill (late Mary), Agnes (Doug), Martin (Evelyn), as well as brothers and sisters in law: Ed (late Ruth), Charles, and Edith (late Fred).
Joan lived in Ingersoll for over 74 years. She first worked as a Bell telephone operator, then as a caring mother to her four children, and later as a merchandiser at Big V until her retirement. She was a keen volunteer for many years with the Catholic Women’s League, Brownies, Ladies Auxiliary Alexandra Hospital, and Meals on Wheels. Her greatest joy was to be surrounded by family and friends.
A graveside service is to be held June 7, 2023, at Ingersoll Sacred Heart Cemetery, at 2:00 P.M. After the service, please join her family for refreshments at Henderson Hall.
Special thanks go to the staff at Alexandra Hospital, and to the many dear family and friends who provided loving support over the years. Any donations in her honour can be made to the charity of your choice.
