It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Jim O’Keefe of Marystown, NL announces his passing at his home on April 21, 2024 at the age of 74. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are his siblings, Martin (Ethel) of Burin, Mary Ash (Jim) of Carbonear, Michael of Marystown, David (Daphne) of Surrey, BC, Paul (Margaret) of Marystown, NL, Janet O’Keefe (Art) of Burin; brother-in-law, Kevin Hanrahan of ON; plus a large circle of extended family and friends. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Violet & Martin O’Keefe (Father); and sister, Beatrice Ann Hanrahan.
Jim was a devoted brother to his younger sibling, Michael, whom he affectionately cared for throughout his life. Michael, who lovingly called him ‘Jim Bob,’ found solace and strength in Jim’s unwavering support and care.
Jim’s life was marked by his passion for cars, a fascination that began in childhood at a young age and grew into a lifelong love affair. His expertise and enthusiasm for cars were contagious, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. In addition to his love for cars, Jim had a keen eye for online shopping, with Amazon being his preferred destination for exploration and discovery.
Among Jim’s most cherished possessions were his extensive collections of watches and t-shirts. His collection of watches was a testament to his appreciation for craftsmanship and precision, with each timepiece holding a special place in his heart. Similarly, Jim’s wardrobe was a reflection of his personal tastes and personality, with t-shirts adorned with designs of all sorts and references.
The family would like to give a special thank you to all of Jim’s homecare workers, especially Trina Hanrahan, as well as Community Health nurse, Jeremy Peddle.
Cremation has taken place and a graveside service and inurnment will take place at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Marystown at a date and time to be determined.
In Jim’s memory donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice, no flowers by request.
