It is with heavy hearts and deep affection that we announce the peaceful passing of Jean Toward on November 28, 2024, at the age of 95. Jean was fortunate to have experienced two great loves in her life: Arthur Kay and Richard Toward. After Arthur’s passing, she moved from England to Canada in 1982, where she met and married Richard. Jean had three children with Arthur: Ann (Bill) Russell, Mary (Peter) Simms, and Arthur (Tracy) Terrey-Kay. She cherished her role as Nana and Grandma to her grandchildren: Rosemarie (Shane) Maver, Michael Russell, David (Rachel) Simms, Becky (Julian) Spencer, and great-grandchildren: Ally, Gwen, Caelyn, Hara, and Lily. During her marriage to Richard, she also gained additional grandchildren, Avelyne and Xander Toward. Jean had a zest for life that was evident through her love of music, travel, good food, and her dry sense of humor. Her family will miss her profoundly; she was truly one of a kind. As a minister, Jean shared her knowledge and beliefs with others. Her guidance and kindness provided comfort to many. She was open-hearted and eager to share her teachings with anyone willing to learn, right up until her passing. Her legacy will live on through her family and the many people she inspired over the years. Jean will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her, and we honor her memory with love and gratitude in our hearts. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 11 am at Scotsburn United Church, 3731 Scotsburn Rd, Scotsburn. With reception to follow in the church hall. For those unable to attend, a celebration of life will take place in Ontario in the spring of 2025; details will be shared at a later date. www.mclarenfuneral.ca
