It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean English (nee Abbott) of Bonavista who passed away on Tuesday, October 24th at Golden Heights Manor in Bonavista. She was surrounded by her family.
Jean was pre-deceased by her husband Leo in 2020, son in law Rob Jones in 2018 and her brother in law Jack in 2017.
Jean leaves to mourn her daughters; Karen (Earl) Mouland of Elliston, NL, Penni (Keith) Spracklin of Barrie, ON, Beverly English of Moncton, NB, Andrea (Patrick) Sullivan of Manitouwadge, ON, Carla (Fred) Di Ceasre of Stephenville, NL and Lorna (Keith) Fiander of the Codroy Valley, NL. Also in mourning are her grandchildren; Mark, Kirk, Danielle, Clarence, Brandon, Kassandra, Alex, Evan, Nathan, Amber, Sophia and Hilary as well as her great grandchildren; Izabella, Noah and Ophelia and her sisters; Hilda (Jack) Goodyear of Gander, NL, Betty (Charlie) Monks of Harbour Grace, NL and Joan (Austin) King of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jean was born on January 12th, 1938 in Bonavista. She lived her first half of her life in Bonavista and in the second half go her life she moved to the Codroy Valley. During the course of her life, Jean was actively involved in the Anglican Church both in Bonavista and the Codroy Valley. Upon the passing of her husband, she returned to the place that was dear to her, Bonavista.
The family would like to extend its heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the extremely dedicated and caring staff at the Bonavista Retirement Home, the Bonavista Hospital, and the Golden Heights Manor. Thank you for helping make the last three years of her life be filled with laughs, happiness, and grace.
Mom, may you rest in peace and happiness as you sing with the choir of angels and watch over us. You will be forever in out hearts.
In keeping with Jean’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no formal visitation or memorial service at this time. Inurnment to take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.
