It is with great sadness that the family of Janet Joyce Bannon announce her sudden passing at Hogarth on November 29, 2023. Born April 14, 1957 to Martin Bannon Sr. and Lyla Fasano, Janet was raised in Fort William First Nation and spent her life as a Free Spirit.
She started her career in Pays Plat FN in their snowshoe factory as their Band Manager for a short time. She changed to help our FN children and families as one of the founding members of the District Liaison Council now known as Dilico Anishinabek Child & Family Care. She remained with the Agency until she became ill. Her illness didn’t let her light and laughter deter her and she maintained a full happy life until it became too hard. Janet had one true love and that was her only son, Aime. Janet was proud of her son and was even prouder when he made her a grandmother and cherished her time spent with them.
Janet is survived by her son Aime Bouchard Jr. (Christine), granddaughters Faith Johnstone, Kalysta Collins-Bouchard, grandson Koven Collins-Bouchard. Brothers Leonard Pelletier, Martin (Debbie) Bannon, Tim (Karen) Bannon, sisters Mary Ellen Ward, Lorraine Bannon, Louise Bannon and Cindy Bannon, in-laws Linda Pelletier & Garry Orwick. Predeceased by her parents Martin & Lyla Bannon, brothers Thomas (Butch) Pelletier & Bruce Bannon, sisters Barbara LeGarde & Claudette Orwick and her beloved grandson Kravyn Collins-Bouchard.
Services for Janet will be at Blake Funeral Chapel on Sunday, December 3, 2023. Prayers from 6-8 pm with family viewing from 6-7 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 4, 2023 at 11am at Blake Funeral Chapel with interment at Immaculate Conception on Fort William First Nation. Feast to follow at 947 Squaw Bay Rd.
