Troy’s Obituary
Martin, James “Troy” ~ 52 of South Greenwood, NS passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on September 30, 1972 in Kindersley, Saskatchewan, Troy was the son of Karen (Rogers) Martin and the late James Richard Martin.
In his younger years, Troy could always be found with his skateboard in his hand. He loved skateboarding but his true passion was photography. He developed his skills at the Nova Scotia Community College in 1991 and worked as a photo specialist. In 1999, he graduated from Ryerson University (now Toronto Metropolitan University) with a Bachelor of Applied Arts focused in Image Arts. He then held exhibitions of his photos and worked part time as an editorial photographer. To make ends meet, he found a job as a construction site supervisor at which he worked for many years. Despite the hardhat and work boots, Troy always lived the life of a photographer; “Good shots; good times.”
Troy is survived by his mother, Karen, South Greenwood and his sister, Richelle (Russell) Gregg, Timberlea. Troy is predeceased by his father, James; maternal grandparents, Kay and Cecil Rogers; paternal grandparents, Illeen and James Martin.
Cremation has taken place, and by request, there will be no services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., toll free 1-855-825-3448.
Donations in Troy’s memory may be made to S.O.A.R. (Survivors of Abuse Recovery), Kentville, NS. survivorsofabuserecovering.ca/
