Jim O’Brien was born in Liverpool, England on October 15, 1946. He passed away peacefully at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria on November 1, 2023.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Louise; sister Colette (Paul Quinlan); nephews Christopher and Andrew Quinlan and niece Kate Hardeley (all residing in England). He is also survived by close cousin Frank Latham (Marion) of Australia and his enduring friend, Roy Clements of Vancouver.
Jim was a longtime golfer and member at Uplands Golf Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and sharing lots of hearty laughs with good friends. Jim was a dedicated fan of the Liverpool Football Club (LFC) and, of course, a forever fan of The Beatles.
Jim left England at a very young age. He was proud to have travelled and worked throughout many countries, settling in Canada in the early 1970s where he lived for the remainder of his life. Jim was a master tradesman and successful entrepreneur in a variety of business ventures.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Uplands Golf Club, 3300 Cadboro Bay Road, Victoria, on Sunday, November 26, 2023, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
