Obituary
It is with peaceful hearts that the Rhindress family announces that Allan, father, husband, brother, grandfather, uncle, friend and hard worker, passed away at age 78, surrounded by love.
Allan was blessed with many lifelong friends from his childhood and teenage years around Wallace. His career as an oil drilling supervisor took him to many places, across Canada and the globe, and brought many more dear friends into his life, in Newfoundland, Ontario and Alberta.
In his retirement, he built his dream home with Donna at Wallace River, where he had camped and fished as a boy. He worked for himself, operating a truck and excavator business, running the roads around Cumberland County and Nova Scotia with his co-pilot Roadie.
Allan enjoyed spending time outdoors, tinkering in the garage, lazing with Izzie, or helping friends in the woods. He was quick to share a dad joke, or one of many stories from back in the day, again. Grampie spent many love filled hours with his granddaughters, watching TV in his chair, playing in the snow, riding bikes in the driveway.
Allan is survived and remembered by his wife, Donna, children Vaughn (Danica) and Kim, granddaughters Adeline and Lela, sisters Marilyn (Fred), Donna, Beverly, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Nellie (nee Hosie) and Vaughn, daughter Jennifer Dawn, siblings Sonny, Donnie, Roberta (Bobbie), Wilma and Jean.
True to his humble character, Allan did not want a funeral. He would be honoured for donations made in his memory to be made to the Wallace District Volunteer Fire Department or the Royal Canadian Legion, Pugwash Branch.

Donna-Paul informed me yesterday of Allan’s passing.Please accept my sympathy to you and the family.Allan and I grew up together as neighbours and friends in Wallace.Although our lives changed a great deal I will always cherish the bond we had as teenagers and friends.Those times will remain in my bank of memories which I tend to live off on a daily basis.The last time we talked was with Jeanie’s passing.Once again please accept my sincere sympathy and believe others care.Michael Flynn
