October 3, 1942 – May 30, 2023
It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of John “Jackie” MacKenzie of West Branch, Pictou Co., announces his passing on May 30, 2023 in East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash, in his 80th year.
Jackie was born on October 3, 1942 at home in West Branch to the late William “Billy” Fowler and Reta MacKenzie.
He worked doing dozer work and in later years until he retired, as a mechanic for Gerald Battist Trucking. Following retirement, you would often see him out for his daily drives, stopping to visit family and friends, telling a few stories and having a laugh.
He is survived by brothers, Bobby (Diane), Black River, Gordon (Ruby), West Branch; sister, Elizabeth (Eben) Bezanson, West Branch; nieces, Ronda, Marree, Fiona; nephew, Devon as well as several cousins; special friends, Judy Langille, Arthur Wall, George MacKenzie and Albert Marshall. Predeceased by his parents in 1988.
A special thank you to all the staff of the East Cumberland Lodge for their excellent care over the past three years.
Visitation will be held 7-9pm, Friday, June 2 in Coulter’s Funeral Home, Tatamagouche. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, June 3 at 4pm in Burns Memorial Presbyterian Church, West Branch with The Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment in Earltown Church Cemetery. Donations in Jackie’s memory may be made to East Cumberland Lodge or to the Earltown Church Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Coulter’s Funeral Home, Tatamagouche.
