Jane Marguerite Sellers, Tatamagouche, passed away early morning, January 31, 2023 in the Veteran’s Unit of Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital, Pictou, just 18 days short of her 98th birthday.
She was the wife of the late Vincent Isaac Sellers (d. October 10, 2014) and daughter of the late Albert R. and Flora (Amon) Anderson of Parrsboro.
She leaves behind her daughter, Kathryn M. Tattrie, Tatamagouche; sons, Gerald (Nita), Hilden, Garth (Dora), Truro, Randall (Carla), Wycliff, B.C.; sister, Doreen Atkinson, Riverview, N.B.; sister in law, Rowena Pipes, Amherst; ten grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Dianne Marie in 1945; son, Vincent Wayne, 1946; in laws, Clifford and Lola (Brooks) Sellers; sisters, Phyllis Chapman, Mildred Anderson, Madeline Fillmore; brothers, Lloyd, Thomas; sister-in-law, Jen Sellers; brothers in law, Ward Chapman, Harris Fillmore, Blair Atkinson, Frank Pipes, Walter Sellers; son in law, Angus Tattrie; great-great granddaughter, Halle Jane Tattrie.
Mom enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, embroidering, knitting socks/mittens and baking – especially for the holidays. Mom was blind from December 26, 1960 – December 20, 1961. She had many eye issues over the years and was always thankful for her several eye specialists, especially Dr. Orr in Amherst, for helping Mom to see right up until three years ago when he could do no more. We are forever grateful to the VON – who looked after Mom’s medical issues as well as to the staff of Home Care for their care and support. The VON are God’s angels here and were able to assist Mom to remain in her home until May of 2022. Mom went through two strokes, a bleed behind her eye, shingles, a broken hip and a heart attack and was in a number of hospitals in Tatamagouche, Truro, New Glasgow, Pictou and lastly the Veteran’s Unit of Sutherland Harris. There was never a time when Mom didn’t receive excellent care.
She is resting in Coulter’s Funeral Home, Tatamagouche. There will be no visitation at this time, but a Graveside Service will take place in the Spring, when she will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Amherst Head Cemetery. The date and the time of the service will be announced.
Donations may be made to the Parrsboro United Baptist Cemetery, Amherst Head Cemetery, Sedgwick Memorial Presbyterian Church, Tatamagouche or charity of choice.
