It is with sadness, the family of Isabelle MacKenzie (nee Carter) announce her passing which occurred peacefully with family by her side at the Colville Manor, Souris, on Thursday, August 8, 2024. She was aged 78 years of Fortune, PE.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband Willard and will be forever loved by her son Michael (Valerie MacKay). Isabelle will also be remembered as a caring and loving grandmother to Jessica. She will be deeply missed by her siblings Esther (Francis), Louis, Henry, Anne Marie (Reggie), Kathleen, Charlie (Mary), Francis (Jenn), Joseph (Michelle), and Brian (Heike), and is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Predeceased by her parents Tommy and Lillian Carter, brother Archie, sisters-in-law Eileen and Rita, nephew Johnathan, along with her close friend and companion Lindsay Hendsbee.
Isabelle had a great love for life, her community and above all, her family. Whether she was making jams and preserves for friends, or knitting mitts and hats for kids, she always put the needs of others above her own. She was also regularly involved with the Bay Fortune United Church. Isabelle always made sure it was decorated for upcoming holiday celebrations, and for several years, loved teaching children at Sunday school. She will be deeply missed by her community and all who had the honor of calling her a friend.
The family would like to acknowledge the exceptional care given to their mother, grandmother, and sister during her time at the Colville Manor. The kindness and compassion shown to her by the entire nursing team will always be remembered.
Resting at Dingwell Funeral Home where private visiting hours will take place for family. A graveside service will be held in the Bay Fortune United Church Cemetery on Monday, August 12, 2024, at 11:00am. If so desired, donations in memory of Isabelle can be made to the Eastern Kings Health Foundation (Colville Manor) or the Bay Fortune United Church.
