Moncton, N.-B – It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful
passing of (Joseph) Bryan Nuss, 76, on October 7th, 2023, at the Moncton Hospital.
Born in Edmonton Alberta, he was the firstborn son of the late John Richard Nuss and the late Theresa (O’Neill) Nuss.
Bryan is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Genevieve; daughter, Melanie Robbins (Robert) of Moncton, NB; son, Matthew Nuss (Devon) of Port Coquitlam, BC; his five grandchildren: Jared, Dylan, Calley, Leo and Evan; his siblings: Suzanne Nuss of Pittsburgh, PA; William (Doris) Nuss of Ymir, BC, and Margaret (Colin) Wood of Keswick, ON; as well as many nieces & nephews.
Bryan was a Professional Civil Engineer and grew up in Canadian communities from Port Radium in the Northwest Territories to Bathurst, New Brunswick, where he graduated from high school. He was an ROTC officer in the Canadian Navy, became a commercial pilot, and started his family with Genevieve in Churchill Falls, Labrador before completing his Civil Engineering studies in 1982 from Saint Mary’s University and the Technical University of Nova Scotia. He lived with his family in communities across Canada and the US, contributing to and leading projects such as power plants, infrastructure, and constructing mining facilities.
He and Genevieve cultivated many friends in their adventures in British Columbia, Ontario, the Miramichi, and so many stops in between before retiring to live in Moncton in 2003. In his library, Bryan loved to share his many hobbies with his family including fine woodworking, Meccano, angling, puzzles, ham radio, reading, baseball and photography. When he shared his knowledge all of those near him were grateful to listen and to be inspired. Bryan will be very missed and leave warm memories for all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Funeral service will be held from Passage-Chartersville Funeral Chapel (363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB, E1A 1G1, 506-857-1901) on Thursday, October 12th, 2023, at 2:30 pm.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Moncton Hospital for the great care and compassion given to Bryan during his stay.
In memory of Bryan, donation can be made to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
The family invites you to sign a book of condolences at: www.funerairepassagefuneral.ca.
