It is with sadness we announce the
passing of Inez Josephine Speare, age 93,
of River Hebert. Inez passed away on Wednesday, November 22,
2023.
Born in River Hebert, she was a daughter
of the late Harris and Helen (Melanson) O’Brien.
Inez was deeply devoted to her family
and considered herself lucky to have them in her life. They
always knew how important each and every one of them were to her and
her door was always open to them. Inez moved to Ontario for
work when she was younger and met the love of her life, James, who she
would marry in 1954 and continue as soul-mates for 60 years before his
passing.
She was an active member of the Anglican
Church in River Hebert for many years and a member of the River Hebert
Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #14 as well as Past President of the
Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed a good game of darts at the
legion surrounded by friends. She was also a member of the
50+ Club in Amherst and looked forward to attending each and every
event.
She is survived by her daughter, Sheryl
(Dwain) Davis of River Hebert; granddaughters, Tia Davis, Fox River,
NS & Kelsi Davis (Isaac), of River Hebert (Nannie’s girls);
great granddaughters, Ellie and Evie; nieces who were more like
granddaughters, Tairyja Donovan and Twilla (Steven) Quinn and great
nephew, Ryker; brother, John O’Brien of England; sisters: Doris
«Wendy» White of Amherst, Joyce (Gornald) Burbine of River
Hebert, and Debbie Carde of River Hebert.
Besides her parents she was predeceased
by her step-mother, Helen Goodwin; her loving husband of 60 years,
James «Jimmy» Speare; her sisters, Ann Richard, Mary Donovan
and Barbara White ; her brothers, Harris Jr., George, Donald and Jimmy
as well as her special Aunt Hestel, who was like a sister to
Inez.
Arrangements are under the care and
supervision of the Jones Family Funeral
Centre, 70 Church Street, Amherst, NS (902-667-8777)
where visiting hours will take place on Monday, November 27, 2023 from
1 pm until the time of the funeral service at 2 pm.
Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery River Hebert in the spring.
The family wishes to extend their
deepest gratitude to the staff of the Cumberland Regional Health Care
Centre for their care and compassion to Inez and her family during her
brief stay.
