It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce
the sudden passing of Hugh (Hughie) Allan Murray on January 2, 2024 at
the age of 76. Hughie passed away at the South Shore
Regional Hospital after a brief
illness.
Hughie was born to his parents the late Sylvia Murray
(Whynaught) and George Murray at Bridgewater, Nova Scotia on July 14,
1947.
Hughie grew up in Pleasantville with his sister Charmaine
Murray. Hughie worked a variety of jobs, including owning
his own heavy equipment business, Department of Nova Scotia Highways,
Acadia Construction, Dexter Construction, Atlantic Bridge and Earl
Knox Trucking to name a
few.
Hughie served for many years at the Conquerall Bank Volunteer
Fire Department, before he left the Department as
Chief.
Hughie is survived by his loving wife, Audrey Murray
(Hubley-Crouse) of 25 years, sons Roddy Murray,
Jody Crouse, and daughter Debbie Murray (James White), his beloved
grandchildren are Julia, Damin and Mikal. As well as his sister
Charmaine
Murray.
Hughie enjoyed playing the saxophone and keyboards and loved
listening to music. Hughie was very social and loved visiting family
and friends as well as long Sunday drives with destination unknown.
Hughie loved the water and was an avid boater for a majority of his
life.
Funeral service will take place at R.A. Corkum Funeral Home,
Wileville on Thursday January 11th, 2024 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers
donations to the Conquerall Bank Fire Department will be kindly
appreciated.
