Obituary
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather, at the age of 86. Henry passed away peacefully on Saturday December 17, 2022, at, Victoria Haven Nursing Home.
Henry was born September 27, 1936, He was the son of the late Charles and Elise Porquet of Scotchtown N.S.
Henry started his working life as a young man like so many other young boys, as a proud coal miner. Henry then changed his field to a career with Devco railway. Henry was a quiet man, he was a well known and well-respected member of his community. He had several hobbies which included woodworking in his beloved garage, fishing and hunting in his younger days, but he was never one to turn down a good game of Tarbish or 45s with neighborhood friends.
Henry leaves to mourn his loving children, Louis (Darlene) Stewiacke N.S; Laura Lee (Norman) Beaverbank N.S; Lee Anne (James) Goderich ON; Lenny (Jennie) Ottawa ON, and several grand children and great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his closest friend (like a brother to him) Raymond Porquet of New Waterford N.S.
Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by the love of his life, his beloved wife, Jean Porquet. His brothers Charlie, Louie, Benny, and sisters Martha, Carmen, Regina and Denise.
The Porquet family would like to say a special thank you to the Victoria Haven Nursing home in Glace Bay for their caring and compassion over this past year. We appreciate all you have done to care for our father when he needed it the most. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Henry’s name to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation.
A Celebration of Life service is being held for Henry on Saturday January 14, 2023 at 11a.m. in McLellan Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave, New Waterford, followed by an interment service in Good Shepherd Cemetery, Reserve N.S. with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating. The family invites all to a reception in the K.O.C Hall 3236 Plummer Ave New Waterford following the services.
