1958-2024
It is with grieving hearts that we announce the passing of
our father, Henry Alexander Gauthier, aged 66, on Friday November 29
th , 2024.
Henry was born on April 18 th 1958 in Charlottetown, PEI to
Viola and Alex Gauthier. He had an unbreakable spirit, always ready
for the next outing, project or adventure. He was the type of person
who would build a ramp himself, even though he had one leg, one
working arm and was in a wheelchair. Every time he fell, he would
raise himself up with a smile, insisting that he was fine, that he
didn’t need help, didn’t understand what all the
fuss was all about. His stubbornness in the face of adversity (he once
headbutted a goat and won) was matched by his generosity towards
others. He was loving and trusting. He assumed the best in others, he
always willing to help, always willing to share what he had. He was
open and friendly, able to strike up a conversation with nearly anyone
at any time; a rare mix of a great listener and engaging storyteller.
He would go into the corner store and come out with two new friends.
He had many hobbies and loves in his life, including fishing, darts,
pool, crokinole and cribbage. And he loved driving, jumping in the car
to go with pure joy. He will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his children, Christian Gauthier, Rebeccah
Gauthier (Nathanial Paznokaitis), Robin Gauthier (Jeffrey Smith),
Shannahn McInnis (Lee McIsaac) and Gina Foy (Morley Foy);
grandchildren, Lian Paznokaitis, Ezra Smith, Julian de Quehen, Sophie
de Quehen, Sydney Sherren (Kyle), Adam Foy (Christina); great
grandchildren, Daya Foy, Posie Sherren and Lucy Sherren; siblings,
Wilbert Gauthier (Marie MacLean dec), William Gauthier (Krista Arbeau
Gauthier) and Dorothy Peters, and his niece, Jessica Peters. He is
also survived by many friends and loved ones who knew Henry throughout
his life.
Henry was predeceased by his wife Beverley Gauthier; parents
Viola and Alex Gauthier; siblings John MacFarland and Kathleen
Gauthier.
There will be a celebration of life at Hennessey Cutcliffe
Charlottetown Funeral Home on Friday, December 6 from 1 to 3
pm.
