McDonald, Helen Catherine – passed away at Victoria Manor, Lindsay, Ontario on Wednesday, December 13, 2023.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Cornelius “Con” McDonald and Margaret (née Finn) McDonald; and her sisters Frances Hogberg, Nora McDonald, Knute “Ken” Hogberg, and Gil Lambert. She is survived by: her sister; Elizabeth McDonald, her nieces; Jo Ann Hogberg, and Margaret Lambert, great-niece; Natalie Lambert (Adam), and their children; Evie & Dallas Rathwell.
Helen was born in Kirkfield, Ontario on November 11,1927. Her life was spent deeply caring for people. A registered nurse from St. Joseph’s Peterborough working in Ontario and British Columbia. 1968 – University of Windsor Public Health Nursing and retired from Arc Industries. 1989 – began as a volunteer for many years with Community Care. 1998 – had the honour of Lindsay Citizen of the Year Award. Helen cherished her friends, classical music, playing the piano, all things nature, in earlier days skating and cross-country skiing.
A visitation will take place at Stoddart Funeral Home, 24 Mill Street, Lindsay on Tuesday, December 19th from 2:30pm until 5:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 31 Russell Street East, Lindsay on Wednesday, December 20th at 1:00pm. Interment will take place in the spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery Kirkfield. In lieu of flowers, if desired, a memorial donation may be made to Community Living or Community Care Kawartha Lakes.
