Heather Rose Fownes
1952-2024
Heather Rose Fownes, 72, of Hillsborough passed away on
September 9th, 2024 at the Dr. Georges L- Dumont Hospital with her
family by her side.
Heather was born in Monton on May 30, 1952 the
daughter of the late Joseph «Joe» and Dorothy
(Steeves) Rogers.
Heather was a member of the Surrey Valley Baptist
Church. She was known all over the area for her cooking
abilities, she worked at several restaurants. The
Rock’s, Salem & Hillsborough Railroad and Iron
Horse; those were some of the restaurants she cooked for.
She last worked as a clerk for Cookes Quik Mart. Heather had
a great personality to work with the public. She was always
joking around laughing and having fun. She had a love of
music and she and her husband Brian went to all the music
festivals and he was known to play at many kitchen parties over the
years. Heather had a passion for the Christmas season and had
a collection of Nutcrackers and had a Christmas tree and
lights up all year long. She said «Why not if I enjoy
it, that’s all that matters.» She enjoyed
gardening and had a love of butterflies, which she also
collected. Heather had the best fingernails
around. She took pride in painting her nails and the fact
that they were her natural nails, not
fake.
Later in life after Brian passed she met a great companion,
Charlie Carson and they had great times together.
They also shared the love of music and went to many music
events and also to the music «shed» with friends.
This is also where her card playing came into effect. She has been
playing cards every Friday night with friends for the past
few years and enjoyed all the memories made. She was always
to bring the desserts, because of her great fudge and
cakes.
She was a great Mom and Nanny, it took a lot out of her
when her daughter, Donna passed away. She managed to
continue on for her son and grandson and always made sure they knew
how much she loved them. She also kept in touch with her
sisters and talked to them daily on the phone. She
always knew what was happening in her family’s
lives.
She would want everyone to remember all the fun times and
all the laughs had over the years. As you remember her, let
that bring a smile to your face.
She will be deeply missed by her son, David Fownes of
Hillsborough; her grandson, Shawn; sisters, Janet Wilbur-Morton of
Memramcook and Peggy Ayer (Chesley) of Edgett’s Landing;
brother-in-law, Kevin Fownes of Alberta. She will also be
missed by several nieces and nephews and by all her
friends.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband
Brian Fownes; daughter, Donna Fownes and good friend, Charlie Carson;
sister-in-law,Sharon Brantnall.
She will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with
visitation on Wednesday from 1-3pm and 6-8pm. A funeral
service will take place at the Surrey Valley Baptist Church on
Thursday, September 12th, 2024 at 2:00pm with Rev. Wayne Johnson
officiating. The family will be having further sharing of
memories and a reception following the service in the Church
Life Center. Interment will be in the Green Hill Cemetery,
Edgett’s Landing, NB.
For those who wish donations to the
Canadian Cancer Society or charity of the donor’s choice
would be appreciated.
Arrangements are in the care of the Albert County Funeral
Home, 4130 Route 114, Hopewell Cape, NB, E4H-3K2. 506
