Hazel LaVerne Drinnen – age 88 of Knoxville passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024. Mama has gone to heaven to join Daddy who was the love of her life. She was a sweetheart, a peacemaker, and a very loving soul. Hazel attended Christ United Methodist Church and was a member of John Sevier Baptist Church. She was the owner of Abloom Florist for 37 years and was inducted into the Tennessee State Florist Association Hall of Fame in 2008. She was also the Treasurer of the East TN Professional Florist Association for many years. Hazel remained active in her business until the age of 85.
Preceded in death by husband of 64 years, Roy Drinnen; parents, Albert Edgar Harrell and Reba Hamilton Harrell; brothers, A.E. Harrell and Jack Harrell; and sisters, Rhonda Hixson, Willie Lou Bush, Lela Floyd Williams, Sue Hancock, Barbara Gideon Wolfe, and Faye Chandler.
Survived by son, Gary Drinnen; daughters, Janet (Greg) Massengill, Lesa (Daniel) Kerbo, and Diane (Tim) Storm; her one and only granddaughter, Kacie Massengill; brother, Jerry (Vicky) Harrell; and sister, Kaye Shelby.
The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Bridges Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet 10:15 AM on Thursday at Bridges Funeral Home and go in procession to Eastview Memorial Gardens for an 11:00 AM graveside service with Pastor Mark Kilbourne officiating.
