Obituary
ALPHONSO, Hazel Purlene (née Peterson)… Passed away peacefully at Hospice Prince Edward on Saturday, January 7th, 2023 at the age of 84. Beloved wife of the late Ian Alphonso who passed away in 1993. Loving spouse and dear friend of Johnny Chang who passed away in 2021. Hazel was born in Bangalore, India and was the daughter of the late George & Dorothy Peterson (née Braganza). Cherished mother of Ian Jr. Alphonso, Richard Alphonso and Gillian «Jill» (Paul Gardner). Grandmother of Dale Drennan & Jakob Gardner, great grandmother of Victoria Timperley & Nathaniel Drennan.
Hazel will be truly missed by Johnny’s children Ricky Chang (Sandy), David Chang (Monica), Rafael Chang (Maricarmen) and all of Johnny’s family. Hazel is survived by her sisters Kathleen (Wolf Geiger), Maureen (late Peter Auzam), Jennifer (Billy Wheeler) and her brothers Darryl Peterson (Jennifer) and Greg Braganza (Blossom). She will be remembered by her nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. A special thank you to all the staff at the Hospice Prince Edward in Picton for all their care and support. Keeping with Hazel’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements are entrusted with WEAVER Life Centre – East, 29 Bay St. Trenton. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Hospice Prince Edward, Picton.
