We are
heartbroken to share the loss of our beloved mother, sister, wife, and
friend. Grazia passed away peacefully at home on May 3, 2024, with her
sister by her side, after saying a final good night to both her
children.
Grazia was
born in the Province of Venice in Italy on September 9, 1939. She grew
up in a loving, close knit family and was educated at the University
of Bologna. She met her husband, Derek Wood, when she was completing
her studies in England. They came to Canada in the late sixties and
then started a family and decided to make Antigonish their home,
making many wonderful friends and strong connections
here.
Grazia was a
member of the faculty at St. Francis Xavier University until her
retirement, and she always held a special place in her heart for her
colleagues and the many students that she taught in her Spanish
classes over the years, many of whom she stayed connected
with.
Grazia leaves
behind her son, Marco Wood; her daughter, Lara Wood (Jason Aube); and
her beloved grandson, Jack Liam Aube; as well as her dear sister,
Maria Iside Bruschi; and her brother, Alberto
Bruschi.
Together with
the many people whose lives she touched; her family will keep her with
us through our happy memories.
Interment has
taken place in Grazia’s family plot in Italy. A
visitation for her Nova Scotia friends and colleagues will be held
Friday, May 17th in C.L. Curry Funeral Home,
135 College Street, Antigonish, from 2 to
6pm.
