Parcourez la nécrologie de Graham Bernard Thomas DUGGAN 2024 résidant dans la province Colombie britanique pour le détail des funérailles.
Graham passed away quietly with his loving wife, Daphne, by his side, at the Royal Jubilee Hospital on Sunday, April 14 th , 2024. He was a man who studied hard, worked hard, and loved his family and friends, as well as various dogs and cats over the years. He loved, above all other interests, music (once a choir boy), science, (loved watching archaeology show Time Team), history, and travel. And he travelled well: sailing the Mediterranean on a forty-foot sailboat, to the Greek and Turkish coast and Cyprus; experiencing The Day of the Dead in Merida with Daphne; touring the Inner Hebrides by car on the way to Iona; visiting the Franciscan brothers in Assisi; and witnessing a Buddhist temple being assembled in a car park outside our guesthouse window in Thailand. Oh, and meeting Barbara Eden (his dream girl from his youth) in Hilo, Hawaii, where he and Daphne had breakfast with her! These were just some of his unforgettable experiences.
Graham grew up in Birkenhead, England, across the Mersey from Liverpool, where he would work on Penny Lane as a chemist’s assistant. He attended the DeLaSalle College of the Victoria University of Manchester, totally on scholarship. He became a science teacher, and with his first wife Monica and son Chris in tow, emigrated to Canada in 1968 teaching in Winfield and Red Deer, Alberta for eight years. A move to Victoria brought more teaching jobs, for Malvern and Westerham Private School, and School District 61. He later switched to “the dark side”, as he jokingly called it, with subsequent employment with the Ministries of Labour, the Environment, then B.C.B.C. and B.C. Assessment, ultimately becoming the Public Information Manager (F.O.I.)
Graham enjoyed retirement with Daph. She was always by his side and they loved to sit with a glass of wine at home, listening to music. Graham will be deeply missed by his son, Chris, daughter-in-law, Nicola, daughter Lisa and husband, granddaughters Ashley, Anita, and Evangeline; stepsons Jordan (Amaya) and Jay (Melissa) and grandsons Jaden and Jax. His visits will be missed by family in England. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Gladys Duggan, Nanny Gertrude Livingston, and his much-loved only brother, Roger. His wife Daphne regarded him as her soulmate and is profoundly grieving his loss.
Thank you to all the staff at Royal Jubilee Hospital who took such good care of Graham in the last few years. Many thanks to our family doctor, Dr. Jalisi, and to Dr. Rossi for her care of Graham’s skin.
A memorial tea will be held at the family home and announced later, for a later date, in either September or early October.
In addition to inspiring and mentoring many students throughout his teaching career, Graham was once a volunteer for CNIB, B.C. Cancer Foundation,, St. Andrews School Board, and RBCM. In keeping with his lifetime of always giving; in lieu of flowers or cards, a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or B.C. Cancer would be deeply appreciated.
