Grace Maureen Bunnie Obituary
Maureen Grace Bunnie, affectionately known as Grace, passed away on December 9, 2024, in Strathmore, AB. Born on September 1, 1962, in Grenfell, SK.
Grace was predeceased by her loving parents, Noella and Henry Bunnie, her devoted husband, Donald Hamilton, and her cherished daughter, Chyrel Hamilton.
Grace’s legacy continues through her loving partner Jeffery Oesch, her son, Adam Hamilton (Corrie), her daughters Leila Verkerk and Kristina Hamilton, her adored granddaughters, Gracie Hamilton and Teryn Lafferty, Grace’s sister, Delores Lambert, (Robert Sr.), and nephews Matthew and Robert Lambert, and extended family, her sister Chyrel Lerat ‘Aunt Sherrie’, and nephews Kelly and Keith Fletcher.
Grace’s warm presence will be profoundly missed by Sadie Landry (Irvin), Ruth Hamilton, Shirley Hamilton, Art Hamilton (Val), the extended Daniels Family and other numerous nieces and nephews gained from her loving marriage with Donald Hamilton, and from members of the Zagime Anishinabek First Nation, including her close relatives Sharon Kequahtooway, the late Lindsey Kequahtooway, their numerous children and grandchildren, Marvin ‘Uncle Kush’ Aisaican (Grace), Kitty Whitehat (Darcy), Karen Kequahtooway, Carol Sangwais, Randy Sangwais, Dorleen Standing Ready, Meranda Desjarlais-Sparvier, Lorreta Lerat, E. Dutch Lerat and her many other close and extended family members who hold her memory dear.
Grace’s zest for life was evident in her many interests. Grace’s talents shone in her baking, where every treat was made with love. Her competitive spirit came alive during games of darts, crib, and pool, always playing with a twinkle in her eye and a beer in her hand. But it was dancing that truly set her soul free, as she moved with a grace that belied her namesake. Grace’s impact on her community was immeasurable. She was a friend to many, offering her support and wisdom freely. Her memory will be cherished and honored by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Grace’s spirit of giving and her capacity for love will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
A service will be held in her honor Friday, December 27, 2024, 1:00 PM in Strathmore, Alberta at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #10.
A wake will be held on Zagime Anishinabek First Nation in the Spring of 2025.
