Obituary
Gordon Donald Baverstock truly had a wonderful life. He was born in Chatham on March 26, 1930. He is survived by Donna Baverstock (nee Smith) “the love of his life” for 71 years. Their faith and church responsibilities were of utmost importance. Together they raised five children and embarked on a journey of adventures and hobbies – vacations, travelling, model railroading and antique cars. Numerous and lasting friendships were the results. Camping, sailing his sloop “SeaSpray” and playing the organ at home were other fun pastimes for him. Gord retired from the Union Gas Co. at the age of 55 years with 30 years of service. He thoroughly enjoyed teaching night courses at Georgian College.
In Owen Sound on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, surrounded by the love of his family, Gord peacefully passed away at the age of 93 years and joins his beloved daughter, Beverly and his parents, Harvey and Edna Baverstock in Heaven.
Loving father of Brenda Hanbidge (Tom), Bonny King (Bob), Belinda Simpson (Peter), Brent Baverstock (Joanne) and the late Beverly Baverstock. Proud grandfather of Jen, Heather (Cory), Marc (Kate), Teresa (Hiram), Chris (Becky), Nichole, Jason (Terra), Bobby-Jo, Ryan (Amanda), Kristin (Dan), Cassie (Rob), Austin, Jaxson, Kobee, Bria and many great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. A private family interment will take place in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Chapman House Hospice would be greatly appreciated. Condolences can be sent to Gord’s family by visiting his memorial at www.woodfuneralhome.ca.
