Glenda was born on December 27, 1937 in Oak Lake, MB. She grew up with her parents William Allan (Allan) Gordon and Elva Fern (Cole) and two brothers Gary and Donald. She shared many memories of family gatherings, helping at her dad and mom’s hardware store and time spent at the cottage at Oak Lake Beach. Glenda worked as a waitress while in school and went on to take a bookkeeping course in Brandon, after high school. Then she put her new skills to work at Keddy’s in Brandon.
She married William Glenn (Glenn) Walton on July 15, 1961, and they began their life together on the Walton family farm north of Oak Lake, MB. They had two children; Geoffrey Mervin (1964-1988) and Gayle Laureen. Glenn died suddenly in 1965 at the age of 29 years. Glenda and the two small children moved back home with her parents. Glenda worked at the Municipal Office as well as the Bank of Montreal in Oak Lake.
Glenda married Paul Thomas Bourque of Oak Lake on December 30, 1968 and the family of four began life together in Thompson, MB. Daughter Bonnie Lynn was born in Thompson in 1970. The family moved to Winnipeg, MB in 1973 until they moved to Kamloops, BC in 1980.
She was a full-time homemaker and mother. She enjoyed many activities including sewing, knitting, cake decorating, curling, baking and canning and crafts. She especially loved gardening and time with her family. She was very proud of her yard in BC and her little rose garden and she made the best raspberry jam.
Glenda had some struggles with her eyes and later with arthritis and mobility. She was a strong and caring person and did not like to complain about her troubles. Following an illness Glenda died peacefully at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops with family at her side. Glenda is predeceased by her parents Allan & Elva Gordon, her first husband Glenn Walton and her son Geoff. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Paul Bourque, daughters Gayle (Curtis) Hurd of Regina, SK, Bonnie (Steve) Clarke of Kamloops, BC, grandchildren Krystle (Mitch) Hurd & Jaclyn Hurd of Regina, SK, Adam Clarke of Kamloops, BC, brothers Gary (Jean) Gordon of Stonewall, MB, Donald (Fran) Gordon of Winnipeg MB, sister in laws Jean (Ron) Rennie of Winnipeg, MB and Madeleine (Jim) Tvedt of Langley, BC as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nursing staff at the Royal Inland Hospital – 6 South for the loving, kind care that was extended to Glenda. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada in her memory. There will not be a service according to her requests.
