KILLAM, Ginny (Virginia) Arlene – 59, of Woods Harbour, It is with our heaviest hearts we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt, sister-in-law and friend. Ginny, the daughter of Fraser and Louella Beer was born in Kirken Lake, Ontario, where Fraser was posted while in the Royal Canadian Air Force. They later settled in the Woods Harbour where she met her lifelong friend, Susan Kenney. She joined the Woods Harbour Volunteer Fire Department when she was 17 and became one of the first women to complete level one firefighting training in Nova Scotia. Ginny worked at Sobeys for almost 20 years and adored her Sobeys family. Later in life she met the love of her life Jeffery. She met her match with him. He was the one. It is with great disbelief that not only did we lose Ginny that day but we lost Jeffery just hours before. One of her fondest moments in life was when she became Nana, and she wore that title proudly. She loved her grandbabies. They were her pride and joy. She is survived by her parents, Fraser and Louella Beer; daughters, Meta (Joe), Sammi (Stacey); brother, Danny (Ethel); sisters, Cathy (Barry), Lori (David), Carrie (Kenny); sisters-in-law, Juanita (Angus), Tina (Andrew); grandchildren, Nevaeh, Andi, Leeah, AJ, Lexi, JJ, Arya; and lots of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by paternal grandparents, Gerry and Ailene Beer; maternal grandmother, Meta Rowlings; and best friend, Susan Kenney. The family would like to thank the Woods Harbour First Responders, the paramedics, and the nurses and Doctors in the ICU at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. There will be a memorial service held Friday March 1, at 2 pm at the H. M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
