Obituary of Gina Candida Lima
Peacefully, with family by her side, at London Health Sciences Centre-Victoria Campus, on Saturday, August 12, 2023, Gina Candida Lima (nee Machado) of West Lorne, passed away at the age of 74. Dearly beloved wife to Manuel for 52 years. She will be sorely missed by her daughters Gina Lima (John Carroll) and Crestina Febbraro (Gabe). Survived by her mother, Belmira Machado (nee Da Silva). Cherished grandmother to Hunter Carroll, Matteo Febbraro, and the late Hope and Star Lima-Carroll. Dear sister of Lourenco Da Silva (Carmena), Palmira Baganha (John), Joe Machado (Marina), John Machado (Karon), Leo Machado (Cheryl) and Lucy Zimmerman (Rob). Also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law.
Predeceased by her brother, Angelo Machado (2005), and by her father, Lourenco Machado.
Gina was born in Pico Island, Azores, Portugal. After immigrating to Canada, she worked hard and persevered through difficult times to create a better life for herself and her family. Gina will always be remembered as a kind, friendly and loving woman. She could have a conversation with whoever she met and would always have a big smile on her face. She was a freind to many and loved by all. Gina loved life, was always happy, and had a positive outlook on everything. Gina had a way of creating a lasting impression on you. Once you met her, you never forgot her kind and gentle soul. Although Gina is no longer among us, she will never be forgotten and her loving soul will last forever in the hearts and lives she touched.
Relatives and friends will be received at DENNING’S OF WEST LORNE, 202 Main Street, West Lorne (519-785-0810) for visitation on Wednesday, August 16th from 4-8 p.m. Prayers will be recited following visitation at 8 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Parish, 128 Main Street, West Lorne, on Thursday, August 17th at 11 a.m. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Victoria Hospital-Palliative Care or the London Regional Cancer Program would be appreciated by the family.
