Obituary
Gerald Wallace
May 16, 1936 – January 2, 2023
With heavy hearts, after a courageous battle with Alzheimers, Gerald passed away on January 2, 2023.
He leaves to mourn his beloved wife of 62 years, Susan, his children Brenda, Trevor (Cheryl) and granddaughter Cassidy (Alex). He was predeceased by his parents Samuel and Mary-Ella, brothers Alfie and Earl and son-in-law Kim.
Gerald was born in Winnipeg and his family moved to Petersfield in his early years. There he met mom and they were married on November 5, 1960. Dad was a grain and dairy farmer. While farming, during the winter months, Dad worked at various trucking companies in Winnipeg. In 1970, Dad purchased Western Air Brakes. He was well known in the trucking industry and also known as the guy who could repair or have parts no one had. He successfully operated Western Air Brakes until he retired in 2011 and his son Trevor took over.
Dad loved the outdoors. He especially loved hunting and fishing. He was an excellent marksman winning many trophies for deer and target. He enjoyed going camping and old-time dances with mom. Dad was a jack-of-all trades. He could fix, build or modify anything. Dad always had a smile and possessed a great sense of humour. He was great at telling a joke or story.
The family would like to thank the Tudor House for their care.
Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held.
“We hold you in our hearts until we can hold you again in heaven.”
Condolences may be left on his tribute wall at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
