A Fisherman’s Legacy
George Coish, a beloved fisherman, gracefully set sail on his final voyage on Oct 9, 2023. With a deep connection to the sea, George’s life was devoted to fishing and nurturing a profound respect for nature.
Born on June 11, 1945, George possessed a rare understanding of the ocean’s secrets.
Alongside his skills as a fisherman, George’s warm demeanor and genuine nature touched the lives of all who knew him. His legacy lives on, inspiring others to embrace the call of the sea and foster a love for the natural world.
As we bid farewell, let us remember George Coish as a testament to the beauty and serenity of the ocean. May his spirit guide us on our own journeys, forever preserving the legacy he leaves behind.
Predeceased by his parents Reginald & Monica Coish; his precious granddaughter Natasha; his sisters Rose, Berta-Jane, Joan, and Helen; brothers Graham and Jack (John Peters).
George is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Violet; children George (Leah), Andrea (Clayton), Anthony (Rose), Rob (Lisa), Wendy (Pat); brothers Jack and Wade; sisters Effie, Annette, Marilyn, Sandra, Betty and their spouses; grandchildren Ryan, Shane, Sean (Alannah), Kyra (Jordan), Savahnna, Tony (Katie), Joanne (Jerry), Kay (Kyle), Oliva (Joey), JaiCee, Dale, Pop-Pops Boy-Liam; great-grandchildren Logan, Landon, Hendrix, Delilah, Bryce, Anna, Levi, Bella, Carter, Elijah, Kairos, Theo, Eleanor; in-laws Pearl (Roy), Loretta (Late Stan), Betty (Ron) and all extended family.
Fair winds, dear George. Your memory will forever be cherished.

A visitation will be held at the Cavendish Community Centre, on Thursday, October 12, 2023, from 1:30 – 3:30.
A memorial service will be held following the visitation at the Cavendish Community Centre, on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 4:00 pm. Cremation to follow.
The family is asking that all donations be made out to the Cavendish Community Centre or the Carbonear General Hospital (Chemo Ward).
