January 13th, 1959- February 24th, 2024
At the age of 65, George Squires passed peacefully away, at the Bonavista Health Centre, following a short battle with cancer.
Predeceased by his Mother (Mary), Father (George), Sister (Alice), Brother (Owen), Niece (Nancy).
Leaving to mourn; Brother Jim (Bertha), Sister Mary (Alvin), Sister Patsy (Edward), Pauline (Calvert). Also leaving to mourn, Nephews Jamie (Lacey), Jeremy (Wanda), Ryan (Ashley), Matthew (Michelle), Kyle, Christopher. Nieces Nicole (Nadine), Candice (Sherman), Michelle (Chris), eight Great nieces and nephews. Also a large number of relatives, close friends and his beloved dog, Rosa.
George was very family oriented and was happiest when he was surrounded by his loved ones. George was loved by all who knew him and will be remembered for his quick whit and humour. He was well known in his community. When he felt well enough to be out and about, George always took the time to have a chat with everyone, whether they were a dear friend or a stranger. He always had a funny joke or a story from his past, which was usually so unbelievable, many thought he was making it up as he went along.
George had an amazing green thumb when it came to caring for his plants and garden. Many people would come to him for tips or even to ask if he could take their plant and bring it back to life… which he could always do. He loved music and was self taught when it came to playing the piano and guitar. He was the life of the party and lit up any room he walked into. George will be truly missed by all.
Cremation has taken place; family will welcome visitors at Strathie’s Funeral Home, Bonavista on Wednesday, February 28th from 7:00-9:00pm and Thursday, February 29th from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 1st at 11:00am from the Roman Catholic Church, Bonavista with inurnment to follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery.
