George Arthur Goddard
January 22, 1947 – December 9, 2024
George passed away peacefully at St Joseph’s Palliative Care Unit, Guelph leaving many family members and friends who loved him dearly.
He was the cherished husband of Wendy Shearer for the past 31 years. He will be missed by his sisters, Margaret Moquin, Oshawa, and Carol (Wayne) Barrett, Coboconk, predeceased by brother Rod Hawes and brothers-in-law Ron Moquin and Stuart Shearer.
George was an important member of Wendy’s family and will be lovingly remembered by her sister Virginia Gruen (Peter Woolley) and her children Brad (Joanne) Bechtel, Jane (Scott) Robb and David (Wendy) Bechtel and all their children.
He was a former member of the Royal City Ambassadors and the Megacity Barbershop Chorus and enjoyed traveling to music competitions in US, Canada and Russia. He was also a gifted artist and a special “Santa” who loved the Christmas season bringing happiness to so many families.
His kind and generous spirit will long be remembered by his friends from early life and later years.
George will rest in the beautiful setting of Chesterfield Cemetery, Blandford-Blenheim Township, Oxford County.
Family and friends will be received at the Glendinning Funeral Home, 40 William Street North, Plattsville, on Saturday, December 14, 2024 with visitation from 1:00pm until the time of the service at 2:00 pm . A commitment service at the Chesterfield Cemetery and then a reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army Christmas Fund or the Plattsville & District Heritage Society – Museum Fund and would be appreciated by the family. Personal condolences can be posted at www.gffh.ca
