At University Hospital, London on Wednesday, March 22nd, 2023, Gary William Doerr of London at the age of 68.
Lovingly remembered and devoted best friend to Sharon Marie Mistele.
Dear brother of Bobby Doerr of England, Darlene Gall of Hamilton and Sharon Doerr of London and brother-in-law of Sandy MacTavish of Fingal, Judy Sulz of London, Donna Mistele of London and Debbie Brown of Strathroy and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Harold and Ivy Doerr.
Gary was a passionate advocate for the rights of disabled workers. He worked in public service, in IT. While working, he sought and achieved many advances in the rights of those who worked with disabilities. For his tireless efforts, he received the Accessibility Golden Jubilee Award, presented on behalf of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth and the 2020 Mayor’s New Years Honours List for Accessibility, presented by Mayor Ed Holder.
He was the chairman for the Special Transit Advisory Committee for the city of London, chair of the Board at Independent Living, various positions for the Professional Institute of Public Servants (PIPS) including the AFS subgroup of PIPS, London Branch.
Gary was also the face of the International Day of Mourning (April 28) at his work every year until his retirement.
Friends are welcome to join the family in celebrating Gary’s life at Denning’s of Rodney, 212 Furnival Road on Wednesday, March 29th, 2023 at 11 am with visitation one hour prior.
Interment to follow at Rodney cemetery.
