October 6, 1958 to September 29, 2023
Passed suddenly but peacefully away on September 29, 2023 at his home in Gander, at the age of 64, Gary James Lush, better known to everyone as Jim.
He was predeceased by his parents, Luke and Grace Lush and is mother and father-in-law William and Hilda Luedee. Also predeceased by infant brother, David and his grandparents Harry and Sylvia Rideout and Charles and Evelyn Lush, brothers-in law Patrick Luedee, Michael Luedee, Adrian Luedee and infant sister-in-law Ralphina Luedee
Leaving to mourn are his life partner of 42 years, Viola Luedee and daughter Hannah, his brothers and sisters: Janice Hoddinott (Dan), Bob Lush, and Philip Lush. Also a very special aunt, Donna Rideout (Roxanne) and a very special uncle, Harvey Rideout (Doris) and his sisters and brother-in laws: Melinda O’Quinn (Gerry), Irene Scharf (Rick), Priscilla Leamon (Bill), Juanita Bennett (Francis), Bernadine Ryan (David), Gerald Luedee (Marg), Raymond Luedee (Clara), Francis Luedee (Joan), Ralph Luedee (Barb). Also a large circle of nephews and nieces, other family and friends.
Jim was an avid outdoors man. His passion was hunting and fishing, really anything that was related to the woods and nature. He loved his trips across Gander Lake with family and friends, where they would enjoy time at the cabin over there and engage in whatever outdoor hunting or fishing activity that the season allowed. Unfortunately, he had to retire early with a physical disability which eventually curtailed him from doing all those things he loved. He would often reminisce in telephone calls with his Uncle Harvey about the wonderful times they had enjoyed together, the many moose, fish and rabbits they caught, and the many good times and laughs they had over the years. This was Jim’s way of reliving that life with precious memories of all the things he enjoyed so much. He was well known as being one of the best hunters and salmon fishers in the area. He prided himself in bringing other hunters and fishers to areas and pass long his skills to help them get their catch. The outdoors was his life! He was a man of few words (unless he was involved in a conversation about the outdoors) but was very kind and giving. When he told you he loved you, you know it came straight from the heart.
Another important day of his life was November 6, 2001, when his precious daughter Hannah was born. It was later in life for him and Viola, but the “icing on the cake”, to complete their family. He took such pride in all her accomplishments, from her first smile to the wonderful and successful young woman she has become today.
There will be a public visitation at Stacey’s Funeral Home. A private family service will be held at Stacey’s Funeral Home with internment to follow at All Saints Cemetery. Time and date to be announced. There will be no flowers, by request, but donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of one’s choice.
