Gerrit Willem Christiaan Heyink went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. Gary was the husband of Gerda Heyink for the last eight years. Father of Brian (Janina), Brenda (Matthijs), Janice (Hugh), Emily (Dan) and his step-daughter Julie (the late Barry). Grandfather of Gabrielle, Jane, Ed, Lydia, Hudson, Colton, Kirsten, Kaya, Kalie, Keagan, Cody, Kyle and Carson. Predeceased by his first wife of 42 years, Linda Heyink.
Dear brother to Joanne Bork (the late John), Patricia Pilon (the late Clyde), Christina Wolski, Harry (Lynn), Dianne Chantler (the late Bob), Rita Ripley (Rick), Johnny (Elaine), Jerry (Trish) and sisters-in-law Gretta Buzeman (Herman), Thea Heyink and Judy Heyink; and predeceased by his siblings Bill, Minnie, John and Henry.
Dad moved around Southwestern Ontario, liked to be his own boss and was quick to talk with anyone. He had a strong Faith, loved God and he loved his family. After he retired from truck driving, he volunteered at New Life Thrift Store. He will be sadly missed by many family and friends.
Family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, June 24th from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. at Grace Christian Reformed Church (255 Tweedsmuir Ave. W., Chatham). A memorial service will take place at Grace Christian Reformed Church on Tuesday, June 25 at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery (55 Maple Leaf Drive).
