It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Frederick Denzel Smith at Hospice, in Cornwall, Ontario, on Thursday, December 29, 2022, following a brief illness with cancer. Formerly of Alberton, age 85 years. Beloved husband to Marlene (nee Peterson) Smith. Born at Northport, PEI, on April 9, 1937, he was the son of the late Denzel and Mary (nee Burke) Smith. Fred and Marlene just celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary, in November 2022. Fred will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Donna Grbich, Nancy White, and Barbara (Daniel) Doyon. Loving grandfather to Melanie, Stephanie, Kyle, Andrew, and Matthew. Great-grandfather to Cohen, Bennett, Maxwell, Poppy, and Rosie. He is also survived by a sister, Blanche (late Erskine) Millman, of Dartmouth, NS, and by a sister-in-law, Bonnie Smith, of Ontario.He was predeceased by his siblings, Eric Smith, Eleanor Fraser, Lottie Mallett, James Smith, and Ron Smith. Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home and Chapel, Alberton, from where a Celebration of Life service will be held at a date and time to be announced. Interment will take place at St. Peter’s Anglican Cemetery
