Freddie Paul Harms Obituary
With great sadness we would like to give respects to our most dear husband, father and grandfather, Fred Harms.
Born in Medicine Hat in Alberta on January 30th, 1941, to Mary and Elmer Harms, he was their first child and had a brother Gerry.
Fred passed away on February 23, 2024, at the Foothills Hospital due to a stroke at the age of 83.
Fred’s journey of farming started early as he quit school and started farming with his dad in Manyberries, Alberta, before moving in 1960 to a farm in the Hussar area. He married the love of his live, Gay Millman, soon after in 1967 in Calgary. They were married for a wonderful 56 years. His children Shane (Deanna) and Charlene (Shawn) as well as his grandchildren Zac, Ethan, Mikayla, Mathen, and Brynn, will all truly miss his wit and many stories.
Fred had a penchant for farming and loved every aspect of it. His favourite days were always ones that he spent repairing and fixing any and all sorts of machinery.
He was an active member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church and Hussar Senior’s Centre and enjoyed the many get togethers with the community.
All who wish to make a donation in honour of Fred can contribute directly to STARS Air Ambulance or Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church.
So many thanks for all your well wishes, they are greatly appreciated at this time.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Lord of All Lutheran Church (Strathmore) at 2:30 p.m.
