Freda Mary Kantor (née Skillen)
November 16, 1941 – October 13, 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Freda. Treasured wife of Bill for 58 years, mother of Julie Flaherty (Bill), Laura Bodner (Rob), David (Gillian), “Nanny” of Emily, Charlotte, Liam, Jonathan, Shannon, Joshua, Joseph, Henry, Annie, Clara, Jane, and Leo. Pre-deceased by her parents, Alfred and Mary Skillen, brother, Terry, and sister, Linda, and parents-in-law, John and Annie Kantor. Cherished also by the large and loving extended families and many friends.
Her unwavering love and commitment to her husband, children and grandchildren was a profound gift that the Lord gave her. She was the light of our lives, and that light was Jesus. He shone through her in the way she loved, listened, prayed, and guided. She was a sign of hope to us as we saw her turn with trust to the Lord in all circumstances. Her words in her last days reflected this, “Oh, I’m not worried, I’m in the Lord’s hands.” We thank God for giving her to us and for her lasting imprint on our hearts.
The family would like to thank all who wrapped her in prayer, Fr. Allen Varlaki, and the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Canadian Food for Children or Silent Children’s Mission would be appreciated by the family.
Visitation will be held at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home 64 Lakeshore Rd W., Oakville (one block east of Kerr St.) Wednesday October 18th from 3 – 5 and 7 – 9. Funeral mass will be held Thursday October 19th at 1pm St Matthew Catholic Parish.
