Passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital on July 17, 2024, Francis Reginald Sparkes at the age of 80 years.
Predeceased by his Wife, Margaret, parents, John and Jennie Sparkes, brother, Terrance Sparkes. Parents in law Martin and Mary (Molly) Brophy, brother-in-law David and sister in laws, Marguerite and Linda Bruce. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, brothers, Jordan(Eileen), Cyril(Viola), Cecil(Pearl), Rod(Rose), Melvin(Winnie), Derm(Judy), Russell. Sisters, Sue(Fred), Bernice(Dean), Mary(Terry), Phyllis(Bern). Brother in law, Pat Bruce, as well as a large number of nephews and nieces and a large circle of great friends. Special friends Tony Bennett, Emmie Youden and Rod Bartlett.
Frank was a very social person. His favorite pass time was to yarn with whoever he came across in his daily travels. He had his daily routine, and one of them was to go to Bartlett’s Irving, where he was most welcomed by the staff. He started his working life with the Blue Peter Shipping Company, as well as H.B. Dawe Company. Frank’s working life on the water ended when he moved on to Buchans where he worked in the mine for several years. After leaving Buchans he moved on to a new career with The Fleetline Bus Company where he worked for 35 years until his retirement. This job fit Frank’s personality perfectly because he was able to meet and speak to many people from all over the country. Frank will be missed by everyone, family and friends alike.
We would like to thank the kind and compassionate staff at the Carbonear General hospital, for the care that Frank received during his time there.
We would also like to thank Broughton’s Funeral Home for their compassionate and caring service provided to the family at this most difficult time.
Resting at Broughton’s Funeral Home: Visitation to take place on Saturday, July 20th from 10am – 9:00 pm. Celebration of Life to take place at Broughton’s Chapel on Sunday, July 14th at 3:00 pm.
Inurnment to follow at the Georgetown Cemetery.
