It is with heavy hearts that the family of Archie Kosynski, would like to announce his passing, he was born in Union, ON, on February 16,1939,in a small farm house. he died, at home surrounded by his family (in Huntsville ON) on May 26, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Patricia, His son; Wayne (Port Stanley, ON), daughters; Ronda (Nanimo, BC), Cindy(Huntsville, ON) and Samantha (Huntsville, ON) predeceased by his parents; Frances (nee Bertling) and Arthur Kosynski as well as his infant daughter Terri-Lynn. Archie was also a loving grandfather to Brent, Brandon, Amanda, Katryna, Julia, Hunter, Cole, Keely and Wes. He was also a great grandfather to Deacon.
Archie lived a very full life, this started at a young age on his family’s tobacco farms in southern Ontario, and from there he worked many jobs before landing on the career of his heart; a first responder and Paramedic. Archie touched countless lives as a medic, including patients, their families, community members and fellow first responders. Later in his career he managed the Huntsville and Burksfalls’ Ambulance bases before retiring and purchasing Moose Delaney’s Sports Grill (Huntsville, ON). Archie also spent many years as the trainer for the Huntsville Otters Hockey team and billeted several players, over the years.
Archie was a compassionate and determined person, who lived life his way. He held his autonomy in the highest regard and found purpose by supporting others. He had a big soft heart (although he would deny that in his younger years; especially when his kids wanted more pets) and was always willing to help others by lending a hand, a heart or an ear. He loved to putter about his garage, eat bologna sandwiches with his grandchildren and was an avid bird watcher. Archie spent countless hours traveling and camping with his wife and children, in younger days he frequented Long Point Provincial Park, recently he spend some winter months in Texas before ‘retiring’ the trailer to Sleepy Hollow camp ground. Archie found joy in hunting and fishing but really enjoyed all outdoor sports; hockey, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and hiking.
Archie was blessed with many ‘families’; he belonged to the Porcupine hunt club (Baysville,ON), Sleepy Hollow camp ground (West Guilford, ON), Moose Delaney’s bar and grill. He cultivated many special relationships and will be missed by those close to him
The family would like to send a big thank you to all the healthcare professionals that enabled him to pass away in the comfort of his home. Dr. N. Biasutti was instrumental in managing Archie’s illnesses so he could make it to his goal of camping this past May long weekend. Abby from Care Partners was able to support Archie’s personal care needs in a way that he felt, respected his dignity. Corey RN from Closing the Gap supported Archie on a regular weekly basis, not only from a HealthCare prospective but contributing to meaningful human interactions when his world got smaller. Tamasin RN Closing the Gap for being such a kind, caring and calm support at the end. The Huntsville Palliative care team for supporting late night calls and guiding his daughters through this journey. We will be forever grateful for you all!
As per Archie’s wishes cremation has occurred. A celebration of life is planned at Moose Delaney’s Sports Grill (Huntsville, ON) on June 9 from 1-4 pm. Donations to Huntsville Hospice in Archie’s memory would be welcome in lieu of flowers.
