It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Fil who died in the loving embrace of his devoted wife and best friend Monica (Dauncey) with whom he celebrated 25 years. Proud father of Anna Maria and Giacomo Calvaruso and Eva (Danny Duronio). Adoring nonno to Vienna and Cristiano Calvaruso. Cherished son of Domenico (2019) and Anna Maria Sansotta (Monteleone 2023) and son-in-law to Burton (2018) and Wilma Dauncey (Schanta). Treasured brother to Elena (2021) and Antonio Mariani, Josie and Rick Zannese, Tina and Christopher Bendo (2010), Nick Sansotta, and Angelina and Sam DeRose. Esteemed brother-in-law to Burton Jr. and Michele Dauncey, Lore Ann and Allen Pervin, Duane and Sonia Dauncey, Rudy and Kristine Dauncey, and Tina and Mark Woloszyn. Lovingly remembered by Theresa Sansotta. Dearest uncle of Steven (Rasha) Mariani, Tanya and Nick Skaff, Adam (Alana) Mariani, Nicoletta and Matthew Bendo, Robert (Tamara), David, and Kayla DeRose (1996), and Domenic Sansotta. Sara and Meghan Dauncey, Erin and Sean Pervin, Ethan (Samantha) and Tate Dauncey, Hannah Dauncey, and Nigel and Maisy Woloszyn. Also, lovingly remembered by Shane and Ashley. Proud uncle of many great-nieces and great-nephews. He will be sadly missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, and friends in Canada, the USA, Australia, and Italy.
Fil was born in the small town of Ciminà in Reggio, Calabria, Italy. He immigrated to Canada with his parents and sisters, the late Elena and Josie in 1958. Over the years, Fil became a protective big brother to Tina, Nick, and Angie. On May 8, 1999, Fil married the love of his life, Monica. Fil loved his beautiful daughters, Anna Maria and Eva, his son-in-law Jake, and Danny. His grandchildren Vienna and Cristiano were his greatest joy. Fil was a talented and extremely knowledgeable master mechanic who demonstrated proficiency at a very young age. He was a hard-working individual who loved his job as the lead hand/supervisor at Verspeeten Cartage. He was well loved by his coworkers. Fil was very wise, highly intelligent, and a voracious reader. He enjoyed being in nature and loved animals especially, his cockatiel, Pacino. Fil was blessed with the gift of gab. He had a great sense of humour and loved to joke around. Fil had a big and generous heart. Spending time with his family and friends meant so much to him. His journey in life was not easy. He faced the challenges with strength and courage and never gave up the fight. He believed in the power of forgiveness and acceptance and loved unconditionally. He will live forever in our hearts.

On Thursday, June 27, 2024 visitation will be held at Families First 1065 Lauzon Road, East Windsor from 7-9 PM and again on Friday, June 28, 2024 from 3-5 and 7-9 PM, with parish prayers at 4:30 PM. On Saturday, June 29, 2024 family and friends are welcome to gather at St. Angela Merici Church, 980 Louis Ave, Windsor in time for funeral mass at 11 AM. Burial to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
