Evelyn Dorothy Pierson (Bryant) peacefully passed away in the comfort of her home on February 9th, 2024 surrounded by the love of her devoted family.
Born in Bracebridge in 1930 to Bill and Eveline, Evelyn was raised in Gatchell within a warm and large family that included her beloved brothers. She held a special place in her heart for her late siblings Joe (May), Billy (Helmi), Bobby (Teresa) and Ted (Maxine). Youngest brother Peter (Marilyn) of Garson remained a constant presence in her life and thoughts, and she cherished updates from the north that kept her connected with her extended family.
In her youth, Evelyn dedicated herself to community service as a devoted Anglican Church volunteer and an active Girl Guide Leader. Driven by her kind spirit and a passion for caring for others, she pursued a career in nursing. In 1950, Evelyn moved to Guelph to attend the Guelph School of Nursing, graduating in 1953 as a Registered Nurse. During her training, she encountered her dear Don (2010) and in 1954 they embarked on a journey that would span 56 years of marriage.
Together Evelyn and Don built homes in Alton and Orangeville before settling on Purple Hill. It was there Evelyn found space to expand her gardens and play host to cherished family dinners and holiday gatherings. Evelyn was at her happiest on her deck overseeing her flowers, watching the birds with her precious and protective companion Luther.
Evelyn’s children, Bryan (Ann), Barry, Sandra, and Sharon, will fondly remember her boundless kindness, support and unwavering love for each of them. Evelyn had tremendous pride and love for her remarkable grandchildren – Brittany (Gareth), Melissa, Caley, Colt (Jamie) and Ben. She eagerly anticipated updates from wherever they were working, living or traveling, admiring the unique qualities of each and so proud that they had grown into good and kind-hearted adults. The arrival of great-grandchildren Sophie and Matilda brought her immense joy, with sleepovers and tea parties in Ancaster standing out as some of her most cherished moments.
Evelyn’s grace, beauty and laughter will be deeply missed.
Funeral Service will be held at Dods & McNair Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre 21 First St. Orangeville, Ontario on Thursday, February 15th, 2024 at 11:00 am. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Orangeville.
A tree will be planted in memory of Evelyn in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. 22nd Annual Dedication Service will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.
