We, the family of Eric, are very sadden to announce his sudden passing at home, March 27th in his 90th year.
Eric was born to Carl and Vern (Fountain) Jensen in Sudbury. The family moved to Toronto, where Eric grew up. At the age of 19 Eric joined the Royal Canadian Navy, retiring in 1981, having served just shy of 29 years. He enjoyed sailing around the world having served on many ships. Eric received the QUEENS Commendation. As the Coxen of the ships whaler, at the sinking of the SS AMPHISALOS and saving the lives of many men March 1964. When ashore he enjoyed his time as an instructor. After retiring he enjoyed many years living at Lewis Lake, East Uniacke, NS. sailing and building his own boats, gardening, processing foods and all the chores that entailed looking after his property. He also became interested in sundials and their construction.
Eric was predeceased by his parents, Derek’s mother Norma and partner Joan McAllister. He is survived by his loving partner of many years Alice; son Derek; sister Marie Thomson; brother Jack; nephews Matt (Cindy), Joe (Vicky), Jake (Catherine); niece Leah (Spencer) and Alice’s daughter Nancy; son Johnathon.
Cremation has taken place, no visitation or service per Eric’s request.
