Passed away peacefully on September 15, 2024 with his loving family at his side at 87 years of age.
Beloved wife of Ann Matis. Loving father of John, Tom (Lisa), Elizabeth (David) Retzer, and Catherine Ferguson. Cherished grandfather of Hannah (Zack), Daniel, Travis (Yasmin), the late Hilary (2019), Devon (Mackenzie), Dr. Mitchel Allard (Dr. Rebecca Russell), Joshua Allard, Spencer Ferguson, Connor Ferguson and great grand daughter Ava. Son of the late Andrew and Mary Matis. Dear brother of the late Annie Lozinsky (late Victor), the late Vera Chlebek (late Henry), the late Helen Klein (late Andy), the late Mary Malcolm (late Kenneth), the late Andrew Matis (Mary Ann Travenetti). Son-in-law of the late Martha and Harry Oleynyk. Brother-in-law of Virginia and the late Louis Papp. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Emil excelled in high school sports. He retired as a Sheet Metal Worker from Chrysler Canada.
Emil was a life long farmer. He loved the outdoors especially fishing and hunting.
Emil was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus Holy Name Council 3305 and Fr. Alvin P. Marentette Assembly 4th Degree, as well as the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Visitation at the Reid Funeral Home, 87 Maidstone Avenue East, Es on Friday, September 20, 2024 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. with Society of St. Vincent de Paul prayers at 3:00 p.m. and Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th Degree prayers at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 146 Talbot Street South, Es on Saturday, September 21, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00 a.m. A private family burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Maidstone. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to Society of St. Vincent de Paul Es Conference or Erie Shores Hospice Leamington would be appreciated. Share words of comfort at www.reidfuneralhome.ca
