Elizabeth «Jane» Frances (Tate) Landry
– It is with heavy hearts we announce that Jane, aged 66 of
Lower South River passed away peacefully on October 22, 2024 in St.
Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish, Nova
Scotia.
Jane was born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia on November 24, 1957
to Marguerite (MacDonald) and Austin Tate. She grew up in Linwood with
her parents and siblings.
In June 1975, Jane married Bernie and together they raised
their three children.
After graduation, Jane worked in several restaurants and then
started a long career at St. Francis Xavier University in the Adult
Education program. Jane enjoyed spending time with her family and
friends, reading, knitting, golfing, walking, going South on vacations
and shopping. Jane was always helping someone in need and she was
active in roles within the CWL. She loved to entertain and there was
always an extra plate at the table in case someone stopped in to
visit. Her home cooked meals were something her family eagerly looked
forward to.
Family was everything to Jane. Her grandchildren meant the
world to her and brought her endless joy. Whether it was a sporting
event, a concert, or a new activity, you could always spot her in the
crowd proudly cheering them on. Even if she was busy, she would drop
everything to spend a little time with them. She never missed sending
a birthday card and loved her phone calls to the grandchildren on
their special day.
Jane’s strength and resilience were something to be
admired. She never faced anything that was too difficult that she
couldn’t give it a fair fight.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Bernard
«Bernie»of 49 years; three children, Quentin (Melissa),
Dustin (Heather) and Brittany (Josh) and seven grandchildren. She is
also survived by brothers, George, Archie, Eugene and Rodney and by
her sisters Cecilia and Maria and many nieces, nephews, cousins,
aunts, uncles, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and many good friends.
She was loved by everyone and will be forever missed.
Jane was predeceased by her parents, Marguerite and Austin,
her sister Cathy, and sister Mary in infancy.
The family is thankful and will be forever grateful to the
staff at the Victoria General Hospital (8A, 3A ICU) and Halifax
Infirmary (5.2) in Halifax and at St. Martha’s Regional
Hospital (ICU, PCU and Palliative Care) for their exceptional care and
compassion.
Visitation will be held Monday October
28th from 2 to 4pm and 7to 9pm in C.L. Curry
Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish. Funeral Mass will be
held Tuesday October 29th at 11:00am in St.
Andrew Catholic Church, St. Andrews, with Father Dennis Lamey
presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery.
In Memoriam, donations may be made to the Leukemia &
Lymphoma Society of Canada or charity of your choice. Online

They walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near. Still
loved, still missed, and very
dear.»
